Introduction
This section contains a list of some of the most popular addons for World of Warcraft. These are not required to be installed as a member of the guild, its just to help members find some of the most useful ones. They are categorised for ease and link to the download sites, where information about them can be obtained. At a later date I will make a pack containing all the addons listed for download.
Now it is possible to customize virtually every element of your UI to suit your playstyle, needs and looks. The addons listed have been chosen for their small memory footprint coupled with maximum customizability when compared with other addons that do a similar job.
Chat Enhancements
Chatter - A chat enhancement addon, fully customizable so it can fit in to any custom UI and if you currently use Prat, then switch to this, as it is far more less memory intensive.
Frames
AzCastBar - A customizable and very lightweight cast bar addon, that can display your own, your target, your focus or your pets cast bar and much more less memory intensive than others like Quartz.
Bartender4 - A great, fully customizable action bar addon. Don't use the default UI, it's terrible!
ButtonFacade - This is a tool for adding extra customizable options to addons like Bartender or Satrina Buff Frames, it lets you colour the button borders, add gloss and can make your buff icons match your action buttons in style, shape and colour / effects adding great coordination to you UI theme.
Fubar - Fubar places a thin bar along the top of your screen (or bottom or both or neither :P ) displaying various information via plugins, for instance you can have it show, location, coords, guild members, friends, quests, money, bag info, durability, performance. Many addons available can pugin to fubar and there are heaps of plugins avialable. Very Useful!!
Grid - Gris is a lightweight group / raid frame addon that lets you see your entire raids health / mana in a small yet informative size. Typically this is used by healers to aid thier task.
KGPanels - Ever wondered how some people get large coloured areas behind there buttons or other elements of thier UI? It's this addon, it does nothing except allow you to create fully customizable 'panels' used as backgrounds to your button bars ect. Great for tying elements of your UI together for that same custom look and feel throughout your UI.
Ouf - Ouf is framework allowing players to create frame layouts. ie: Player, target, group raid frames ect. On it's own this addon does nothing, you will need to download one of the many custom layouts available for it.
Ouf Nivaya - This is a layout for Ouf, by far my favourite layout to date. It's extremely less memory intensive than Xperl and others but it's not for the faint hearted. Depending on where you like your player, target and other frames, will depend on which layout suits your needs.
Overachiever - This addon overhauls the default achievements window, giving greater search functionality. It also makes it easier to complete achievements as an example it will tell you if you need to /hug /love or kill a critter for the squirrel achievements by telling you in the tooltip when you hover over such a creature as well as put an icon next to foods in your cooking recipe list, telling you which you need to make. plus lots of other features.
SatrinaBuffFrame - A great buff / debuff icon addon, letting you move, resize and customize all aspects of the buff frame, coupled with button facade you can make the icons looks the same in shape, border colour ect as your action bars to tie it all in together.
TipTac - Tiptac lets you customize the placement, look and feel of all ingame tooltips to match the rest of your UI elements. Aswell as allowing you to see buff/debuffs, guild ranks, talent specs, who they are targeting and all this without actually having the player selected/targeted, just hover your cursor over the player.
Xperl - Xperl is a fully customizable set of frames and raid / group tools. Great for most people. The only downside is that its huge on memory useage, if something like Ouf and a specific layout is not enough for you then try this as a last resort.
Inventory
Auctioneer - If you want to the best at buying and selling on the AH, then this is a must, it has a plethora of tools to aid you and makes the job a lot easier.
Bagnon - Bagnon is a addon that improves the way the player manages his or her inventory. Instead of multiple bags, its like having one big bag and customizable too.
Map
Atlas - Atlas features maps of every instance
as well as battleground maps, flight paths, dungeon locations and instance entrances.
AtlasLootEnhanced - Atlas loot Enhanced adds superior functionality to the Atlas mod. Giving you full loot tables of every boss in game, also allows you to checkout profession made items, pvp rewards, faction rewards and all other types of loot available in the game.
Cartographer - This addon replaces the world map in game and giving you greater functionality. It also lets you see the entire map even if you have not visited all areas. This is a must if you use Quest helper as it used by QH to give you waypoint arrows.
Chinchilla - This addon replaces the mini map in game, giving you greater functionality and customisation. Want a sqaure minimap or some wierd shape? Then get it!
Miscellaneous
Align - Very simple and light addon that creates a grid on your screen to aid you in aligning and centering your UI when designing a custom layout. To toggle it on and off use /align and to change the grid size, type the number after the slash command: /align 64. It rounds to the next multiple of 32 and will stop at 256.
Proffesions
AckisRecipeList - Ackis Recipe List is an addon which will scan your trade skill recipes and display a window listing all the recipes you are currently missing. It will work for all tradeskills including Runeforging. It tells you where they are obtained from.
Questing
Carbonite - A powerful and well designed addon, making questing much easier, extremely more powerful than Quest Helper yet a fraction of the size and menory usage. This addon is now completely free to users and no longer requires a subscription for full functionality.
QuestHelper - A handy questing tool not as bloated with features as Carbonite but wieghs in at a hefty size and can consume around 25Megabytes of memory, which is ridiculous.
Raiding/Group
BigBrother - Checks Raid Buffs/Flasks & Alerts who breaks Polymorph/Shackle.
BigWigsBossmods - A must have if you raid ect, it gives you warning and timers for boss abilities and most raid groups/guilds require this addon to be installed.
Decursive - This is a cleaning mod. Its job is to help a class that can remove afflictions to do it with ease in every conditions (playing solo, in small groups or in big raids). This is a must if you can cleanse and is requirement for raiding.
GearScore - This little mod displays a number in tooltips giving you a relative score of the item in relation to your class/spec ect. If you hover over another player it gives thier total gear score. You can use this to generally tell how well geared/enchanted and gemmed a player is. Eg: Most players with heroic/10 man gear mix are around 3500. Anyone in a 25 man raid with less than 3000, should not really be there.
HealBot - Healbot is a WoW addon for healers, although any class can use it, even tanks wishing to track aggro and 1 click assist on the person with aggro.
Omen - Omen is a threat meter, telling how close you are to pulling the mob off the tank ect. It's an essential instance/group/raid addon and you should not be without it.
Ora2 - oRA2 is a lightweight CTRA replacement. It contains everything a raider needs apart from raidframes. It is fully compatible with the messages CTRA sends.
Recount - Recount is a damage meter and detailed statistics analysis tool. From knowing how much someone healed to detailed stats on group members like how many times the hunter used explosive shot.
SmartBuff - SmartBuff is a buff addon, to cast buffs easily and quickly. All classes are supported. Bind a key, scrollwheel or use the action button and it checks if you, a party/raid member, also hunter and warlock pets, needs your buff and cast it. Use the options menu to configure it as you like, as example: buffs, raid subgroups, pets, etc.
